We live in Chipperfield, a village of Hertfordshire, England, approximately five miles southwest of Hemel Hempstead and five miles north of Watford. The village green is at the centre of Chipperfield on the edge of the 117 acre Chipperfield Common & Woods. Our house is one of few located on the edge of the woods with private access through these woods off the Common. Chipperfield has a local post office, 2 x convenience stores, Italian restaurant, and two local pubs – The Windmill and more popular Two Brewers located opposite the green which has great food on offer.

We are looking for house sitter/s that can stay in our 5-bed house (which is seen in the images) and look after our animals whilst we are away for 4 weeks. Ideally you would need a car (plenty of parking available on our driveway area inside electric gates) as local transport is not great and the nearest train station “Kings Langley” is about a 12min drive away. The house is in the country and surrounded by woods to the front, rear and side and only one neighbour to the left. Being south facing and away from roads the house is perfectly quiet, and you will find only the sound of birds everywhere.

Our location is considered rural- so wellies required if wet, no pavements as a local horse track crosses outside our front gates and most walking paths in the woods are muddy when wet.

We have 2 dogs and 3 cats that would need to be cared for while you stay.

Dog 1 – Betty (miniature poodle), very friendly and wants to greet everyone, happily walks without a lead and keeps close being very obedient. A dog walker comes to collect her on Mon / Wed & Fri just after lunch to take her for an extended walk.

Dog 2 – Harvey is an old Shih Tzu who is mostly blind now and hard of hearing, sleeps 90% of the day and night and walks on a lead to ensure he is staying on the paths in the woods.

Both dogs have one walk in mornings (approx. 30min) around 8am and another shorter walk early afternoons (Not Betty if taken by dog walker that day). Generally, we walk them out our gate and walk the woods immediate outside.

Cats 1 to 3 – Are all white Siamese cats (Arthur / George & Ralphy) – all of whom are free to roam given the land all around us. They are also extremely friendly and intelligent cats who love to jump up and sit on your lap when they come in.

We have three living areas in the house, all of which have separate Smart TVs with Freeview channels / Netflix / Prime and much more etc…, free house Wi-fi access available. We have a car charger point should you happen to have an electric car. The heated outdoor pool will unfortunately be switched off for the winter while you stay but does have a safe retractable cover of solid construction so no animals can fall into it whilst it is closed. We have recently completed a refurbishment of the house and so it is extremely comfortable to be living in.

Across from our main house is a two floor Annex cottage of which our 20 year old son lives. He is likely to be also away most of the time we are gone but is likely to be living in during some parts of the house-sitting stay. Although he has his own kitchen and bathrooms, he will need to come into the laundry room and sometimes the kitchen to collect various utensils should he and his girlfriend be cooking or washing their clothing.
