An experienced house sitter who is reliable, responsible, clean & kind, I believe the love poured into our homes comes back to us many times over.

Hi, my name's Ellie, I'm 41 and from the UK.

I grew up in Yorkshire and lived in Edinburgh for 12 years before embarking on a more nomadic lifestyle in late 2016. Since then, I've enjoyed exploring pockets of Thailand, Portugal, France, Spain & the UK, meeting new people and spending time with friends and family.

A fan of nature & the outdoors, I'm keen to experience as much of this beautiful planet and its people as possible, whilst having conversations that matter and doing what I can to become better at being human.

With strong interests in personal development, natural health, consciousness and energy, I love learning about what it is to be human and sharing that with like-minded people.

Driven by curiosity from a young age, I ask a lot of questions (mostly of myself & 'uncle' Google) and enjoy pondering answers and making new connections in order to gain a clearer and deeper understanding of myself, others and this crazy game called life.

I'm a cat lover by nature but well-trained, calm dogs are ok too ;) I'm good for long off-lead walks and get on well with dogs who enjoy having someone around, but who don't need to follow me everywhere I go!

House sitting gives me a freedom of movement that I value greatly, along with the time and space to do my work, as well as other interests (Yoga, reading, writing, contemplating & reflecting). The ability to spend time in new places, meeting new people and catching up with any nearby friends - all whilst gaining a fresh perspective - appeals greatly and is topped off by having the privilege of taking care of others' homes and pets whilst they're away. For those of us with nomadic tendencies and the desire to leave things better than we find them, it's a wonderful arrangement.


Experience & Tasks Undertaken

I've been house sitting on and off for over 20 years. I'm currently house sitting in London (6.5 weeks; house, dog, garden & small veg patch). Earlier this year I've done house sits in Bath (cat), Brixton, London (dog), Battersea, London (dog) and Provence (2 cats, garden). Last year I was in the Scottish Borders for 3 weeks' (cat, garden, veg patch) and near Murcia in Spain for 4 weeks' (house, garden, pool, 2 dogs).


Previous house-sits have included the following:
- looking after owners' homes & gardens
- cats & dogs (loving & feeding, keeping litter trays clean, walking the woofs, washing & grooming, administering pills/potions & vets when necessary)
- bird feeding, plant watering & basic garden maintenance
- harvesting & processing home-grown fruit & veg
- maintaining small swimming pool
- opening mail & forwarding (digitally) as required
- liaising with trades-people re maintenance jobs
- updating home owners (according to their preferences)
- airport runs (using owners' cars)
- additional tasks, subject to arrangement (eg painting, filing)

I have a Disclosure Scotland from 2016 (clean), which was carried out when I was employed on a temporary contract by a private school in Edinburgh. Copies of that and my passport are available on request.

I've held a clean British driving licence since 1994 and have driven homeowners' cars in the UK, Spain & France. I love to drive, but don't currently have a car.

I qualified in Reiki (a Japanese form of energy healing) over 5 years ago, which animals seem to love as much as humans! It's calming & relaxing, which can be of great comfort to pets whilst their owners are away, helping to minimise any disruptions in their environment, as well as being effective at easing any aches and pains.

I'm new to this site but include a couple of references below from last year, with more available on request.

"I have known Ellie for nearly 15 years as a dear friend and one-time colleague. I have always known her to be responsible, dedicated and conscientious in everything she does.
As such it was an extremely simple decision to ask her to house-sit for 4 weeks in our house in Spain and although Spanish is not her 2nd language and our house is in the middle of nowhere I knew she would be perfect for the job. She handled everything beautifully and dealt with everything that came up, whilst keeping us fully informed.
My beloved (but not easy!) dogs were looked after impeccably, we got photo updates and the sort of questions that make you realize she is thinking of every little thing. She also coped with our resident dog-that's-not-ours and all the peculiarities of Spanish rural life, re things not working, power cuts etc.
The house was immaculate on our return, she was more solicitous of the welfare of my garden than I am, including the many fiddly pool jobs and kept all the plants thriving even in the fiercest August heat. All this with just the right amount of feedback to let us know all was well and we could enjoy our holiday!
I couldn't have asked for a better house-sitter, and would unhesitatingly recommend her to anyone looking for someone to care for their property and/or animals.
