About this house sitting position in Chesterfield

We are a family of four living in semi-rural Derbyshire in a very small hamlet and National Trust area. Our 3 bedroom home is a semi-detached cottage within minutes drive of Hardwick House and Gardens and within easy driving distance of other heritage properties including Chatsworth House, Bolsover Castle and Calke Abbey. We are close to Sherwood Forest and on the edge of the Peak District. The M1 is nearby so travel to the cities of Sheffield, Nottingham and Derby is quick and easy.
Our little hamlet consists of cottages, a farm and a pub - there is a very limited bus service so a car would be needed for reaching the shops and other services which are a few minutes drive away. There is ample parking for a motorhome if necessary.

Our neighbours are very friendly and supportive in our tiny community so there is always someone around for help or advice if needed.

We are looking for a house sitter or sitters that will make themselves at home and care for our pets. Our home is lived in and we have two rowdy teenage boys so it's clean and tidy but not an immaculate showhome. We don't have any maintenance or gardening requirements, we just need company and care for our lovely elderly labrador, 2 cats and dozen chickens. They are all low maintenance pets, mainly requiring food and love. One of our cats will be your friend for life in exchange for treats, the other will treat you with suspicion unless you are asleep but they're both friendly. Our chickens are a fun bunch of rescue hens. Their coop has an automatic open/close door so they just need someone to feed them and in return they'll provide fresh eggs for you to enjoy every day!

We have house-sitters each year that have enjoyed staying in our home and we abide by a free exchange of accommodation in return for house-sitting. We also find that one of our rescue cats is more settled with women in the house so apologies but no solo male house-sitters. We have welcomed solo house-sitters, couples and families - we have teenagers so the house is not set up for young children however families have had no problems.
