About this house sitting position in Greater Manchester/Peak District

We're looking for a responsible, relaxed, chilled out, and mature individual, or couple, who are 100% animal lovers, to take care of our 14 year old dog Zuko, and 3 year old cat, Rosie.

Our two are both very low maintenance, but they do have run of the house, and it is their home as much as ours. Zuko gets to be on the sofa, and sleeps on our bed. He is great for night-time foot warming and cuddles :-) Rosie is, well, a cat - so we serve her, and not the other way around.

Our home is an ideal base for walking, especially for extensive canal walking, as we are literally a minute or so walk from the Lower Peak Forest Canal. The bridge you see on our profile is about 2 minutes walk from our house. We are within very close access to the Peak District also - a mere 20-40 minutes drive (depending on where you are headed), and you are absolutely on the moors and in the rolling hills. However, Zuko is now old, so he doesn't need as much walking as he used to - but he is happy to be left a few hours at home while you go out.

Our home is also an excellent base for city lovers - with Manchester's wonderful cultural scene and attractions in close reach. There is a lot of theatre, nightlife, a fantastic foodie scene, alternative culture and underground clubs, and obviously, Manchester is home to some of the best music and bands in the world.

You really do have the best of both worlds here, whether you like the city or country!

In terms of our actual home, we live in a small but cosy 2-bedroomed terraced house in Greater Manchester on the border of the Peak District and within easy access of Manchester's cultural city centre by public transport (15 minute train journey).

As mentioned, the Peak Forest Canal is on our doorstep (1 minute!) which is also close to the Tame Valley River, so fabulous walking along the Lower Peak can be had every day. You can also do a longer 4 mile walk to the Portland Basin where there is a small waterways museum, and a lot of barges! From here, it is a 7 mile walk into Manchester all along the canal, which can be done easily for a keen walker. You can also walk the other way along the canal to Marple Aqueduct and Locks - lots of great scenery!

Our home itself is on a friendly cul-de-sac street where the neighbours know each other and there is a community feel. We are within 7-10 minutes walk of the town centre where there are plenty of shops, supermarkets and a market. Also, we're just over 7 minutes walk to the nearest train station and 10 minutes from the bus stop.

At night time, it is very peaceful and quiet because we're close to the canal, though you might hear foxes barking! We live in a back-to-back terrace, with a small but lovely backyard (our "yarden"), which has plants in containers and patio chairs for you to sit out, weather-permitting.

Of course, we have a computer and internet access/Wi-Fi, which you would be free to use. We also have Amazon Prime and Freeview for you to watch, as well as plenty of books that you could read while here.

You will sleep in our bedroom once we vacate the house. If you are an individual, you would be able to have the single bed in the attic space to spend the night before the sit with us, as well as the night after the sit. If you are a couple, it would mean either the single bed and sofa, or booking overnight accommodation locally just for the one night before the sit. We can work something out!

We look forward to welcoming you!
