About this house sitting position in Tregaron

We have just booked a trip to the USA and seek competent house and pet sitters to look after our little smallholding in Wales during September 2018.

What perfect timing for a trip to Wales ... the schools will have gone back after the summer break, the weather will still be good and there is so much to see and do.

We are ideally positioned for exploring both the beautiful West Wales coast and the hills and mountains of mid Wales. 15 miles west of Lampeter, 8 miles west of Tregaron, Penuwch is a rural village, 1000ft above sea level and offers some outstanding panoramic views.

The small, historic Georgian coastal town of Aberaeron is just 9 miles away, offering some extremely good restaurants, tea rooms and gift shops whilst at LLanrhystud, 8 miles west, there is a Golf Club, Gym and an amazing stone beach for spectacular dog walking all year round.

The university town of Aberystwyth is 17 miles away and offers a mainline train station, shopping, cinema, arts and theatre, large supermarkets and an old fashioned seaside promenade, perfect for sitting with an ice-cream, watching the world go by.

The Hafod Estate, Devils Bridge, The Vale of Rheidol Railway and the Cambrian Mountains are all a short drive from our home. For those who love outdoor pursuits, there are plenty of mountain biking and walking trails available. Slightly further afield, Cardigan and outstanding Pembrokeshire coastline are about an hours drive.

We are a happy, friendly 40 something couple who married in 2017 and recently made the move to our dream home in Wales, coming all the way over from East Anglia. Tony works from home as a Software Developer and Penny is a Kennel Club Assured Breeder of German Shepherds and Labradors and Animal Pregnancy Sonographer.

Our love of the country, our dogs and livestock have been the driving force behind our move and we seek trustworthy animal lovers who have abundant cuddles to share with our dogs and some experience of caring for livestock.

We currently have 7 very well behaved and loving dogs, any of whom would be happy to join you as you explore the area or curl up on your feet each evening, a cat who does little more than mousing and sleeping, 8 sheep some of which have lambs due soon, 4 geese, 2 ducks and 5 hens although numbers are subject to change on a regular basis!!

We endeavour to make your time caring for our animals as easy as possible, making sure we have everything properly organised before we go, we really hope that our sitters enjoy their time with our clan. Our dogs are all raw fed, all meals will be pre-portioned for ease. The livestock take as much or as little time as you would like to give them. They all enjoy ‘people time’ and a fuss at feeding time, but their needs are few, fresh water and food/hay daily, eggs collected and a keen eye to make sure all is well.

Our house needs some love and attention to make it the home we want, however it is clean and comfortable. We have a large guest room, warm and comfortable, well appointed lounge, a basic but functional kitchen with gas/electric range cooker, dishwasher, large fridge and freezer etc.

By September, we aim to have installed a super new wood-burning stove in the lounge, perfect to snuggle up in front of after a day out and about exploring. We also aim to have enhanced our overnight facilities by adding an en-suite bathroom in the guest room.

We have a good broadband connection, Freeview TV, Blu-ray player with a large movie collection and an Echo Dot.

Whilst not completely isolated, we are rurally located, so a driver is essential. We could make a vehicle available if this would be helpful.

Above all, we would like to be able to go on our trip happy in the knowledge that our animals won’t miss us!! We would be very keen to know if our smallholding interests you, do let us know if we can give you any further information, and we hope to hear from you soon.
