About this house sitting position in Ansty, Dorchester

We own the first certified passivhaus in Dorset don’t let that put you off the house looks after itself! Located in the gorgeous village of Ansty which is equidistant between Dorchester and Blandford. This of course is Hardy country and you can visit the cottage he was born in within a 20 minute drive. There’s no heating just a fantastic heat recovery system that keeps the house at a steady 21 degrees. The hot water is produced by solar panels. We have 3 bedrooms so you can take your pick of either of the ground floor bedrooms served by a bathroom. The kitchen diner and utility are also on the ground floor whilst the galleried lounge is on the first floor with fantastic views over the Dorset countryside.
We have some beautiful walks straight from the front door or of course you may like to explore the Jurassic coastline which is only 30 minutes away by car.
Now the main bit is obviously caring for our two spaniels. Tiggy is a rescue Sprocker aged 9 and she does suffer with arthritis in her hip but that doesn’t stop her from enjoying her walks. She does tend to go a bit deaf if she catches a scent but she does always come back eventually! Mac on the other hand is a typical 5 year old working cocker with boundless energy. His recall and stops to the whistle are faultless and guess what they both love water which is why we have a purpose built hot shower station out in the garage - they love it.
Ideally you would have experience with WCS as their needs are not like most dogs. We typically do one quick 30 minute walk in the morning then a big walk in the afternoon both off lead (1.5 hours) topped up with games and enrichment in the fully enclosed garden of course you could go for much longer walks neither of them would object. They both travel well in the car and absolutely love the seaside.
They are fed twice a day (raw) usually 8am and 5pm they will both bring you a shoe or a slipper to remind you!
We are located right next door to a lovely pub (The Fox Inn) and we also have a farm shop and post office just over the road for your everyday needs but a main grocery shop would be a 20 minute drive away.
We have super fast internet and sky tv in the lounge and kitchen and of course all the usual mod cons in the kitchen. Read more...
