About this house sitting position in Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot
Hi,
We are a retired couple who love to travel in-between grandparenting activities..
We are looking for an experienced dog- carer to look after our energetic young dog Noodle and our older friendly cat Bella in our warm, comfortable detached house in Bovey Tracey, Devon while we are away. The house has 3 double bedrooms, a study / single bedroom, 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen-diner and a large lounge . It is set on a south facing slope overlooking the town with great views beyond. This is an excellent location for exploring Dartmoor as well as attractions and beaches across both Devon and Cornwall. The house is close to town but peaceful and secluded ... there is no passing people or traffic. The front-garden has a flat patio area. There is also a large terraced rear garden affording fantastic views across to Dartmoor.
Noodle is a mix of a dog - her mum is a Labradoodle and dad is a farm Collie. She was born Oct 2024 so she will be around 2 years old at the time of this sitting. She is a delight - bright and responsive to all commands but a little bit nervous when meeting new people. This can also manifest with barking at any sound outside she thinks might be a threat (she is improving with age so episodes are shortening). So we are working on these areas mostly at present and would need someone who has some experience of nervous dogs who is capable of carrying on routines we have established. N.B. Her reactions have never manifested in aggression.
Once she knows you all is well so the dates include an overlap on the first day to ensure she has time to adapt ok.
Bella is our 15 year old Burmese-cross-Russian blue cat. She is a very talkative and affectionate and will love to curl up on your lap or play games. She does have access to the outdoors but mostly prefers to be indoors, especially if it is cold.
They get on well and sometimes play.
Get in touch if you need more details on anything...

Also we have many reviews on an alternative UK site we can forward should you require extra piece of mind.
Other Important considerations before responding..
* As mentioned there will need to be an overlap on the first day or a day's visit close to the time to introduce/settle Noodle before we depart.
* Both the drive and the garden are on a 1 in 6 slope so may not be suitable for anyone with restricted mobility (cars and short wheelbase vans can drive up and turn OK . anything larger we strongly suggest you walk up and look first!).
* As the role is primarily to look after a dog and cat we cannot take anybody with their own animals.
* We would need to have a face-to-face chat (video is fine) and see proof of identity. Read more...
