About this house sitting position in East Cowes, Isle of Wight
We live in a modern 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom with showers bungalow, with driveway for 2 cars and cottage style gardens. Look after our black lab, Cocker Spaniel Pup, fish and pot plants
Our black Lab Salty will be 7 and a half in September. He is a gentle loving and patient boy but at 30 kg very strong. He loves everything and everybody. He walks well on the lead but will sometimes
pull to say hello to a lab or retriever, small dogs he ignores. He is amazing in coffee shops and restaurants. Great in the car and on buses. With me as an assistant dog he is allowed in shops , so he is good around towns. He is amazing with Albie and as his recall is good Albie copies him. He loves to sleep and will be quite lazy given the opportunity. He is a dog of habit.
Albie will be 1 in October and is like a whirlwind. At the moment whilst i write this he is not quite 5 months old, so it is difficult to say how he will be in October. He is an ongoing always changing and developing as we go. Yesterday he went on his first bus ride alone without Salty and he was a total star, curled up under my seat. At the coffee shop he curled up on his mat. He is not very brave and tends to stay close to those he knows.
In the house he sleeps in a crate in the kitchen all night from about 10pm to 06.30. He also goes in his crate when we go out in the day. Currently we also have a playpen which if we are out of the kitchen/diner we leave him in the pen. He may not have this pen by Sept/Oct. He is good at sit and leave it and off. Learning down and his recall is good, mostly copying Salty. He thinks he is a goat and that surfaces are to stand on not under so a watchful eye has to be kept on him. He also toilets outside beautifully if you stand in the garden with him. He does love the garden but is easily distracted and will just have to look at one more plant, bush, treasure and forget to go to the loo!
He is incredibly loving and loves to curl up with you. He is learning to settle but still needs to go in his pen at the moment to reinforce the settle and keep him out of mischief.
The secret to a Cocker is to be always one step ahead!
He can be left in his crate in the day if you go out for max 4 hours. With a chew and the radio playing.
Both boys are incredibly loving, gentle but complete opposites. They are both eager to please and at the end of the day leave you smiling but tired. Read more...
