Former Railway Cottage - Off-grid Smallholding.

We are seeking a mature and responsible person / couple to look after our rural smallholding whilst away travelling with our young son in Autumn of 2027.

The cottage is located on an extremely peaceful and private site with woodland enclosing three sides of the 1 acre plot. The grounds of the cottage are well organised and partitioned into an orchard; a decked area from the rear of the house and driveway; a securely fenced goat paddock with an additional enclosed shelter; a large grassed area; and a vegetable growing area housing a large veg bed, greenhouse, and composting.

The house itself is a compact two bed cottage with a small modern extension. The home is powered by solar pv with battery storage with a backup generator. Heating is by a LPG boiler and a log burner.

The main responsibilities will be to look after our dog, a labrador/pointer cross and to ensure that our three goats are let-out, fed, and bedded down to a consistent routine. We also have a flock of chickens that will require feeding and watering, along with a fairly independent cat.

We are seeking a house sitter who is confident, organised, and has experience of caring for goats (or similar) and a highly active dog.

In exchange we can offer a truly unique property to stay in that is surrounded by woods and farmland, is only 2 miles from a couple of nice pubs, 30 minutes from the North Norfolk coast, and has shops and amenities within a 20 minute drive.

Our plans are to travel for around 6-7 weeks next Autumn and we are looking to plan well in advance to ensure that the best possible sitter can be found. We would ideally meet and have a trial sit before our travels to ensure that a comprehensive change-over can be carried out and that all parties are happy and confident with the arrangements.
