About this house sitting position in The Black Mountains

My name is Geraint and I am a writer and my wife Emma, is an artist and we live in a beautiful old farmhouse half way up a hill at the edge of the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons. Some parts of the farmhouse date back to the fifteenth century and it has three large Inglenook fireplaces as well as a working Aga..

We are looking for a sitter for the whole of the school Summer holidays whilst we are in Ireland. The pet care at the house will be 2 cats and 9 chickens (which will involve essentially feeding, letting the chickens in/out of the coop and some mucking out of the chicken coop).

The house sits within 7 acres of land that includes an organic fruit/veg patch and a small greenhouse so some gardening experience would definitely be a plus !! We also have a wildflower meadow, a shepherds hut, a huge fire pit and a back garden terrace with a BBQ and a superlative view of the Hatterral Ridge and Hay Bluff. The house has central heating, wifi and all the usual mod cons (dishwasher, washing machine, TV/Netflix, Wifi etc). There are stunning views from all around the property and the historic market town of Abergavenny ('The Food Capital of Wales') is just five miles away. We have a spare room with ensuite bathroom on the first floor where you would stay. Read more...

Reviews for Geraint

4 stars stars
“We really enjoyed looking after Bruce, Dizzee, the cats and chickens in their home in the most stunning countryside you will see anywhere. Although we did not get to meet Geraint and Emma due to major travel disruption on arrival day, we were given clear instructions which ensured we could provide the required care with virtually no disruption to pet routines. The dogs are very friendly (to people and other dogs) and well behaved when out walking. Having a lovely large garden and a big field above the house meant that many hours could be spent outdoors with the animals, cats included (who accompany you on walks around the property!). An added bonus was being able to watch the countless types of birds come and feed directly outside the kitchen window. In all, the sit was a great experience and we are grateful to Geraint/Emma for the opportunity. - Read more
