About this house sitting position in Witham

You will be looking after a lovely old Grade 2 listed farmhouse surrounded by 3 acres with a variety of animals - three cats, two medium sized, mixed rescue dogs, some chickens all of which will need feeding and general cuddles.

The dogs will require walking around our fields adjacent to the house and some cuddles. The cats feeding, and the rest of the feathered animal’s will be self-sufficient, just the eggs need collecting, all of which takes about half an hour!

We are situated on the edge of Silver End which is a little historic hamlet. We have a bus stop at the end of the drive and a pub opposite. Witham train station is about 10 minutes away which has a direct line to London Liverpool Street (43mins) There is a small parade of shops within walking distance which includes a Co-Op, Chemist, Chinese and a fish & chips shop.

“Emma and Tim were most welcoming and hospitable hosts, collecting me from the station and sharing a meal with me ahead of their departure. The animals (horses, chickens, dogs and cats) were pretty straightforward and instructions clear, though naturally I worried that I was doing everything the way Emma would, particularly with the horses. Emma stayed in touch in case of any queries, such as the little hen who didn't like being in the coop, or Bobby dispensing with his fly mask; it was an interesting experience with fresh eggs thrown in! It would definitely suit someone wanting some experience of chickens and horses but in a place accessible from the city. Thank you Emma, Tim and your animal brood for your hospitality, and particular woofy thanks (if I may) to Dotty for her companionship : ) - Read more
