HOUSE-SITTER WANTED – HISTORIC YORK

Early May to early October 2027

We are looking for a reliable, house-proud and practical person to look after our much-loved Victorian town house in the heart of historic York for approximately five months, from early May to early October 2027.

We are artists and our home is on a quiet residential street, within easy walking distance of York city centre. We have no pets, but the lower part of the house contains a beautiful, high-end self-contained holiday apartment with its own private entrance, which we continue to let to guests while we are abroad.

We are looking for someone who would enjoy taking care of the house and being a friendly, welcoming presence for our guests. The role would include:

* Giving guests a warm welcome when they arrive
* Buying provisions ready for their arrival
* Arranging the collection and delivery of laundry
* Being on hand to deal with any little unexpected quirks or practical issues that may arise in the apartment
* Keeping the outside areas looking cared for – sweeping leaves, watering plants and making sure the entrance is clean and welcoming
* Keeping an eye on the house generally and letting us know if anything needs attention

We already have a very reliable cleaner who cleans the holiday apartment for each guests and we will continue to manage all bookings ourselves from abroad. We will also be in regular contact with you and our guests, so you would never be left to manage things on your own.

The house has off-street parking, a small back garden and excellent Wi-Fi. There is plenty of space and it is a peaceful, comfortable place to live, making it particularly well suited to someone who works from home and enjoys a clean, orderly and characterful home.

This would suit someone who is house-proud, responsible, practical and enjoys making a home feel welcoming.
