We are a mature professional couple with three adult youngsters, all of whom are making a significant difference in the world. Having graduated with excellent results from outstanding universities they make the most of available opportunities, working hard as well as enjoying life!
And we do too. We love to travel, meet new people, be in the countryside, enjoy property and your pets!
So far we've house/pet sat horses, donkeys, cats outdoor and indoor, independent and attention-seeking, household, rescue, pedigree, elderly and feral, provided sole care attention and early days aftercare for Bengal mother delivering and looking after 6 kittens, dogs including young ones and those who think they are still puppies, rescue dogs that include pets who find change particularly difficult, obedient dogs and others who find response to recall more challenging, specialist breeds that include (docile) Rottweilers, Weimaraners, Dobermans as well as smaller breeds, dogs with specialist health requirements, embracing physical and neurological conditions, hens, cockerels, chickens, ducks, geese, goats, pond fish, tropical fish, garden and pot plants, bbq huts, hot tubs and swimming pools!
My greatest love is horses. I've been around them and animals, including farm animals, most of my life. Having ridden from age 4 onwards I would hate to tell you how many years that gives me 'in the saddle' ...
We also love walking your dogs, caring for their needs and meeting requirements of other creatures entrusted to our attention.
All we need is your clear, written instructions ahead of stay with a printed version at your property so we can follow them to the letter. That way, whilst you are away, it will be 'home as normal' for your animals.
A repeated accolade, providing reassurance especially to those new to house/pet sitting, is that animals are so happy/relaxed when owners return that pets take little notice of them.
For some this may be a disappointment. For pet lovers making these comments it is ultimate success!
When we first arrive it is helpful to implement, under your guidance, written instructions provided. This gives us practical knowledge of nuance details that make the difference between average and excellent care, enabling your animals to experience minimal disruption whilst you are away. When you return your pets are content.
We are both practical, fit, non-smoking, trustworthy, honest drivers with lots of experience in property. Having been around animals all our lives our success catalogue of caring for the 'more unusual' is growing by the day!
My husband is an architect, we've had our own home since we were married 36y ago and together we run a couple of property businesses, including in the hospitality sector. Thus if an emergency arises whilst you are away, God forbid, we are likely to be able to deal with it.
We're able to house-sit because we work 'on' our business rather than 'in' it. It means that so long as we can access the internet and use our mobiles, which is essential if we are to house/pet sit for you, we can usually 'sort' any problem that may arise. This can be reassuring as you contemplate going away; and whilst you are there!
We are very aware you will be coming back to your home. We respect the way you leave it and will ensure that when you return you'll find it as you expect it to be. There is nothing more annoying than somebody else re-arranging your nick-nacks. The way you put them makes sense to you so when you arrive home you'll find it as you left it! It's YOUR home!
We do not charge for house/pet sitting services. It is our pleasure to provide them.
To maintain cash neutrality, enabling our car to remain on the road, we request reasonable return travel expenses from our Southampton home to yours, at HMRC recommended rates/reimbursement for alternative travel, if your location indicates alternative transport is more sensible. Your local knowledge is key!
Without travel reimbursement we would need to severely restrict bookings/discontinue house/pet sitting. Those wishing to use our services would find this option counterproductive!
