We are a married couple together for over 30 years, Mark is Canadian and Sue is British. We have decided to try house sitting as we have recently moved out of our London rental as it is to be renovated and put on the market, in addition we sold a small inherited property and thought this was a good time to move around a little and see if there is somewhere we would like to live outside of London.

Mark is currently, along with his business partners, in the preliminary stages of a new tech startup, they have already signed up some clients and are seeking investment. He will be working from home so there will always be someone there if you have pets that prefer not to be left alone. After more than two decades as a freelance food stylist, Sue is now taking a break and seeking a new career online to facilitate travel. She will be taking care of your home and plants etc.

Although we are new to house sitting we do have lots of experience taking care of dogs in our home, and neighbours’ cats in theirs. We have had three rescue dogs of our own, Curtis a Staffie Whippet cross, Roxy a cattle dog mix, and most recently Stella a Staffie.

After losing Stella, we fostered Bella a Staffie Bulldog cross, for a year to help some friends get through a family crisis. In addition we have regularly been looking after Mario, an older Show Cocker Spaniel while his owners travel for business. We have never been able to have a cat of our own as none of our dogs were cat friendly. We do miss having our own dog and will be looking for a rescue when we settle and maybe a cat too if we are able.

We are looking for longer house sitting opportunities as Mark is working intensely at this stage of his business and it’s better if we can settle in for several weeks at a time and not disrupt him too much.

We have a car, and are non smokers. We are both quick to respond to emails and texts, we are fastidious and tidy in the home and will take care of it as if it was our own. We understand from our own experience what a difference it makes when you are away to know that your pets are safe and cared for in their own home environment. We will be happy to communicate with home owners while they are travelling, for their assurance and to show them how their pet is doing on a day to day basis or however frequent is preferable for them.

We have experience in looking after many breeds of dogs in our home, including older dogs, dogs with anxiety and those needing medication.

We have looked after cats in their own home (due to our dogs being in ours) visiting them for food, play and cuddles and keeping their litter trays clean. Read more...
