About this house sitting position in Helston, Cornwall
Detached 3 bedroom bungalow with good sized gardens and a babbling stream running the full length of the front garden. Situated in a lovely, quiet , rural setting yet only 5 minutes drive or 20 minutes walk along the river Cober into Helston town centre.
2 large supermarkets within 5 minutes drive.
A car driver would find it easier as there is no public transport within the village itself though buses run regularly at the top of the hill which is a 10 minute walk but up a very steep hill. There is off road parking here for you.
Plenty of lovely walks from the doorstep and many interesting places within easy driving distance. The Lizard, Falmouth, Mounts Bay (St Michael's Mount), Penzance, St Ives, Truro, Porthleven are all within a 10-30 minute drive with the Eden Project and Lanhydrock House and Newquay about an hour away. The dogs are fine to be left for about 4 hours so you can get out and about on your own.
We do not expect anything except to return to a clean house with happy dogs....although if you really fancy doing some gardening or housework we would certainly not complain! We have a good sized rear garden with a double swing chair, 2 gliding chairs and table and chairs.
For our holiday in June we will need you to look after our tortoise and two of our dogs. They are both briards, very friendly and affectionate but not small so they are for genuine dog lovers who aren't fazed by their size, (though a friend brought her very non-doggy husband to stay and by the time he left he was besotted and took loads of pictures of the dogs to show his workmates)! Veran (named after a bottle of wine) male aged 8 and Eden, (after the Eden Project) female aged 5, are neutered and insured. They are a guarding and herding breed and will let you know when anyone is around. Veran is likely to settle with his head in your lap in the evening for a fuss. Veran prefers the front of the house....during the day he will often come to check that you are okay if you are in the garden room or garden and then go off for a sleep. Eden, on the other hand, will follow you everywhere (i do mean everywhere! Expect no privacy) and then settle beside you. She will also love you to bits on a regular basis.
Both dogs are used to sleeping in our bedroom so we will set up the spare room for your use and they are likely to sleep outside your bedroom door or on our bed. They are a guarding/herding breed so they may well potter in and out of your room to check that you are ok, so please only come if you are happy with this.
We will be here with you for the first night to introduce you to the dogs and make sure you are happy and settled before we leave early morning on 20th. Read more...
