About this house sitting position in Southwick
In case this matters to people: my reason for needing to travel during lockdown is not frivolous - my father has passed away and I need to empty his home in Spain.
I share my home with 4 female felines, all of them are black, all rescued, two are little lovebombs, the other two are very aloof. I adore them all and the conversations I have been having with them after a year in lockdown and spending 95% of the time with no human company have become increasingly deep, meaningful and enlightening ;) We are a bonded group and they really don't like being left on their own for more than one night.
My house is filled with quirky things I have salvaged and pieces of art from my favourite artists, there are a few low maintenance house plants, an upstairs bathroom and a downstairs loo, the usual mod-cons (actually - no dishwasher), Netflix & Amazon Prime.
I have a pretty big garden, which I'm in the process of rewilding - I don't need help with gardening, in fact I need people to understand I'm trying to give the garden back to Mother Nature and let the native wild plants and flowers flourish. If you know anything about wildlife ponds, that would be a huge bonus!
The garden is South West facing and there's a stunning view of the sea and the sunset. On a hot, sunny day, it gets really hot. You can cross the road and walk up to the Sussex Downs in 5 minutes.
There is a bus stop almost outside the house that goes to a big Sainsbury's, which is about 10 mins away, and also into Brighton (1/2 hour on the bus), a big Tesco and M&S are walkable in about 20 mins. A smaller Co-op, a great chip shop and a couple of small pubs are 15 mins walk away, as is the station for trains to London and along the South Coast. There's off-street parking, if you drive.
Ideally I'd like to meet regular cat sitters who the cats and I get to know and develop a good relationship with, who would come back a couple of times a year for a month-2months at a time. It's important for me to feel like we could become friends and that it's not just a business-like transaction based on convenience only.
